If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?

(After attending a talk on Why Homeschoolers Quit)
I met you Friday at Wesley Woods. I just want to say thank you for spending your precious time with me. I am new to home schooling. I frequently doubt myself and my ability to do this task....I don't think it helps that I decided to begin this journey with a middle school boy. You inspired me and articulated so many of my own thoughts. I really didn't understand what or why I believed, I was (am) just trying to be obedient to God. I believe the Lord has called me to home school and I also believe He sent you directly to me. Thanks so much for your part in listening and obeying our wonderful Lord. Thanks for saying exactly what I needed to hear last Friday!

Homeschool Admistrators
Cory and Barbara (Bennett) have talked to literally thousands of potential and new
home school parents giving them free advice, directing them to resources, helping
them to connect with other homeschoolers or umbrella schools. For many of these
families the Bennetts have been a much needed life-line enabling them to survive an educational and/or spiritual crisis.
The Bennetts also have been instrumental in behind-the-scenes legislative concerns.
Cory has made contacts in the Department of Education and in the State legislature
that have proven invaluable for the concerns of families who want a quality education
for their children.
As the Home School Coordinator at the Christian Academy of Knoxville, I have personally witnessed Cory and Barbara's efforts and successes. Cory met with the Superintendent
at the Christian Academy of Knoxville to discuss ways of broadening CAK's outreach to homeschoolers. As a result, home school high school students now receive diplomas and have access to classes on campus. These successes certainly have an impact on those directly involved, yet I believe the impact is far deeper and wider. Families in Tennessee who may never have heard of the Bennetts have experienced more openness within Christian and public schools toward home schooling and parental choice in general. Cory and Barbara have been the foot soldiers, along with others, who have helped to bring this change about. This full time effort does not come without cost, though. The Bennetts must eat, pay their bills, send their children to college just like the rest of us. Please consider giving monthly to this ministry. My husband and I decided a number of years
back that FEL was a ministry worthy of our support. I encourage you to do the same.

I am writing this letter on behalf of Cory and Barbara Bennett and the work of Foundation for Educational Leadership (FEL). Cory and Barbara have dedicated themselves to serving the needs of the home school community here in East Tennessee.
Through their leadership with the Smoky Mountain Home Education Association, the opportunities, resources, and freedoms to home school our children have been advanced on a local, state, and national level. We are blessed to have Cory and Barbara as our representatives.
One example of how my family has benefited from Cory's influence is in the area of competitive speech and debate. Through Cory's encouragement, our family attended a "Communicators for Christ" conference four years ago that started us on a journey that continues today. The reason opportunities abound for home school students in the arena of speech and debate in Tennessee is due in part to Cory's continued support of families who are now facilitating this activity across the state.
As the Administrator of the Berean Christian Home School Organization, I have greatly benefited from the advice and counsel that Cory has provided me. My ability to serve the families enrolled with Berean has been greatly enhanced through Cory's support, wisdom, and experience.
I believe that the service that Cory and Barbara Bennett provide to the home school families of East Tennessee is crucial. If you would like for Cory and Barbara to continue serving the needs of home school families through FEL, then please consider financially supporting them in this ministry.
Respectfully yours,
Ed Lee

Cory,
Since our January 2011 board meeting, you have completely redone the THEA web site. You have led us into the currently available information distribution doorways and opened them for us making these technologies easily usable. Now we have the communication tools distributed and usable making THEA a technological leader in homeschool information distribution, which takes us from the far back of that effort, gives us the currently available tools, and launches us to the cutting edge of the information distribution age.
Your wisdom, kindness, thoroughness, your understanding of home education and all the complex resources necessary to make every resource available "as close to their kitchen table as possible" is exactly what has animated your very timely action.
TN homes will be stronger and safer because of the pathways you have blazed into their information delivery channels.
Thank you, Sir, and may God bless you.
Respectfully,
Claiborne Thornton

Dear Cory,
Its hard to imagine that nearly ten years have gone by. Your step into a ministry of building families was quite a step of faith. For you to go from the secure nest of an established organization at the University of Tennessee to stepping out to work with families was bold. As you have often said, "Small dreams don't light a fire in the hearts of men."
You sir not only keep your own fire lit, but you also fuel the fire and fan the flame in
the hearts of many thousands of families in SMHEA and all across the state.
The tools I see you use are thoroughness, discernment, enthusiasm, leadership and patience. Thoroughness is one of the delightful characteristics of a leader...more
